Monday May 6

Mostly cloudy and noticeably chilly. A light westerly.

Well I guess not every visit can be memorable, and this one certainly wasn't. The highlight was the continued presence of the drake Mandarin. I saw two species which I missed on Saturday (Starling and Cormorant) but the Redshank, Gadwalls, and Shelduck have all left.

A pair of Little Ringed Plovers was copulating, and further signs of breeding came from a pair of Long-tailed Tits which were carrying food.

It was too cold for insects to put up much of a show, and I saw just one butterfly, a Speckled Wood.

Surely Spring migration isn't over already.
